friday is here and another week is nearly over. i feel like most of the week, i lost track of what day it was, which feels like the culmination of every feeling on maternity leave. but this week has felt heavy on so many levels, so i’m welcoming a quiet disconnected weekend holding my babies tight.

my heart hurts immensely for the families mourning losses of their little ones in nashville this weekend. as a human and a mom, i’m so angry and fed up with the systems that allow this to continue, and for taking away the safety and security that should be felt in a school. while i don’t want to dominate the entire post with my feelings on this, and have been fortunate to have friends to talk to in more detail on the topic, i do want to share resources that i’ve found to be incredibly helpful: everytown and moms demand action.

in better news, we’re loving our little bubble with brendan and maya. baby boy will already be a month old this weekend and it still feels completely surreal to snuggle him. i take none of it for granted and feel so lucky to have him with us and be his mommy.

i did finally felt like we found a groove and our routine with two this week. i even felt good enough that i was able to get out and enjoy the cherry blossoms, excited to cook, get organized, and even a bit of spring cleaning (as in i had a morning i scrubbed the entire house between baby boy feedings).

my brain has been all about food, and i’m craving warm weather flavors. anything with pesto, coconut, zucchini, lemons, peas, and fresh summery flavors. i may have gone full tilt into finding recipes that i’ve wanted to try that subscribe to those flavors and am excited to feel good enough to get back in the kitchen again.

our weekend plans include getting offline and being outside as much as possible. i’m hoping to hit the garden store to start planting everything soon, happy hour at home with friends, and maybe a brewery adventure with the kids, all of the snuggles, and playground time for maya; all of the family time we can squeeze in.

things i loved this week:
cherry blossoms
homemade granola
happy hour at home
hoops every day
pesto noodles with roasted chicken
maya in a jean jacket
snuggles with brendan
this new half zip sweater
early bedtimes
afternoon walks
coconut lattes
stanley tucci in italy
