life lately...
what a whirlwind the past month plus has been. after what felt like a nearly never ending winter, spring came awfully fast. it feels like we’ve gone almost everywhere, and pushed ourselves more than i previously thought we could have handled.
at the end of april, wade and i headed off to california for a conference for his job. the conference was just outside of l.a. and right on the coast and absolutely incredible. neither of us had been to southern cali and we were not disappointed. absolutely obsessed; i only wish it was closer.
after about a week there, we flew home for about a day or so, before leaving to drop the girls off before we left for spain. it was an absolute blur but my heart has never burst as much as coming home to my girls after a week away. that said, it made it just as hard to leave them again a few days later.
spain was absolutely incredible. the plan was always to go for my job, but initially to go in march. the trade show i was scheduled to go to was delayed from march to may, leading to the back to back trips. while we took a couple of days to ourselves in san sebastián, which was incredible. from there, we proceeded to hit every wine region that we could. it was a nine day marathon, but so incredible to see as much of the country as we were able to.
from there, i jetted off to my trade show in germany, before coming home again. the trade show was amazing to be back, to hit the ground running, and after maternity leave and baby girl, feel like I was back in the groove professionally. i learned so much, saw so many interesting wines and people, and fell right back into it.
coming home was still the best moment to see my girls and wade, and hug them tight, knowing we had the entire summer to adventure, see family, friends, and travel together.
we capped off the marathon with a trip to the beach with my best friend and her family. her daughter is nine months older than maya, and it was amazing to see them play together, and watch maya’s brain firing to try to do all the cool things her bestie was doing. it was the best feeling after being all over the place to just be with our families, decompress a bit, and welcome summer.
more to come on spain, california, and summer but so happy to be back. i honestly still can’t believe we pulled this off, but it was a spring of a lifetime, and amazing reminder of all of the things; where i want to be and go, and who i want to be with.
