hi hi and happy monday! last week was surreal and flew by in the blink of an eye. we celebrated maya’s second birthday with our families and close friends.
maya absolutely loved every part of her birthday, with an extra hint of magic and sparkle in her eyes all week. she wanted to celebrate, snuggle and eat any cookie she could get her hands on. she loved being surrounded with love and dressing up for every occasion. i can’t get over how i feel that she’s all ours, and already two years old, with so much zest for life.
her birthday always strikes me as the final leg of summer, and nearly excited for fall. we have a couple more big summer plans left, including a vacation week with the kids at home, and a trip to the lake, which i absolutely cannot wait for. we also have quite a few quieter weeks ahead, and i’m looking forward to soaking up as much time at the pool as possible.
this week was a bit crazy in preparing for her birthday, and managing our day to day lives. work has been busy, but it’s been exciting to dive back into it and feel out my footing again. adding to the anticipation of maya’s birthday weekend, organizing and planning, i ended up with a tick bite, spending an afternoon at urgent care. this has made me fully lean into my life as a hat lady, using any opportunity to wear my favorite summer hats while i still can.
i’m looking forward to this week, plotting a couple of nights at the pool before dinner and bedtime. i’m craving some new dinners, so perusing a few different new recipes i’m excited to try. i’m excited i’ve been finding my groove with running again, which has helped my anxiety immensely.
