happy friday! another week, and inching rapidly closer to christmas. wade and i cannot believe how fast the end of the year has gone. i feel like halloween was yesterday, and yet somehow i’m finalizing christmas lists, planning cozy meals, and putting the finishing touches on our family holiday magic.

the end of this year has felt frantic, in many ways rushed from one thing to another, with holidays mixed in, and time feeling like it is at warp speed.

as our family plans for the holiday and wraps up work in the next couple of days, we’re also basking in a quiet holiday, and soaking in as much of the moments we can feel like we’re slowing time down.

this week’s friday favorites feel like a bow on top of christmas planning, fashion, and finding beautiful things in the small moments.

etsy shopping:
i always say i should pursue etsy more, and i really am trying. i found a few pieces this week that made my heart sing, two of which have already delivered. i love that they feel classic, but bring character into our house, and make my house feel even more like a home. some favorites include market and goods shop, these paper and clay shop plates, and this tray is gorgeous.

a cozy christmas tree:
since having kids, and a puppy, i’ve always been anxious to hang any ornaments that feel too precious on our tree. last year, i did not want only a naked tree, so we found soft ornaments, that felt both fun for the kids, chic for me, and nostalgic for wade. this year in particular, it feels very us, with pieces of each of our family members shining through. my favorite moments right now are early morning coffee and evenings watching harry potter with only the tree lit.

paris, period:
i have a large work trip coming up in february, to barcelona and paris, i had a big trip to paris planned with friends, that i unfortunately had to cancel, due to covid. now, i’m finally planning to go back. while it will be mostly work, i have a day or so to bop around the city, shop, hopefully see a museum, all of the things. no matter what, there will be food, and great food. i’ve been. having fun playing with my outfits to already pre-plan what i want to wear between the two cities, and it’s mildly easing the burden of leaving my babies behind for a bit.

soup season:
one of my favorite food groups, and yet i consider it a food group, is soup. veggie soups, chicken soups, classic, spiced, and all of the options. soup is a personal love language, and with winter feeling like it will be full swing very quickly here, i must make at least one a week. photographed below is a new favorite chicken tortilla soup, from mia rigden. side note, if you don’t follow her, highly recommend. an absolute favorite for delicious, healthy meals. some others i’ll always love, and rotate through all winter include broccoli arugula soup, tomato soup, zucchini leek soup, and my kitchen sink veggie chicken soup.
