friday favorites
happy friday and happy new year! it seems a bit razy that the holidays have come and gone, but there is something special about those first few days of january and a fresh start.
our holiday vacation was really fun, and so different than last year. i can’t believe how much my kids have grown this year, and what different little humans they are. maya is so specifically herself, and confident in that, and i love watching her thrive. brendan is just another level. he loves running around and is carving his way into the world and so sure of himself.
we spent the week very cozy and quiet at home, doing christmas and holiday traditions that we love, while bracing for back to life.
this week’s friday favorites feel like our holiday; lot of quiet and cozy, while also feeling full of life and the energy of two toddlers.
run run run:
i am the crazy person who cannot stop running. all seasons, i try to get out every other day, and this week has surely tested me. we had blustery winds on new years day, before winter cold really snapped into place for the foreseeable future. i am so proud to say i was out running despite the weather. again, i’m crazy, but it keeps me sane. now to just refresh my cold weather running gear, some ideas…. (jacket 1, jacket 2)
cozy, but chic:
my uniform of the break was leggings and a great sweater. if i needed shoes, i threw on a pair of samba, et voila! all joking aside, i love being able to dress up leggings and feel cozy and comfy, while also a bit elevated and chic. it makes the days feel like i’m still getting dressed and trying, while i don’t necessarily feel too stuffy. (sweater, sold out but similar, and leggings)
plotting, planning and goals:
every year i say i’m going to set goals and do the bit, and then it’s typically march by the time i revisit. i’m consciously trying to think about it all early this year, especially with such a big year coming up. i’m traveling to spain and france in february, and back to the two countries again in may. in the meantime, i’ve also been plotting vacations with the kids, summer plans, and all of those fun things, plus my usual work schedule. with so much exciting coming up, i’m also trying to stay focus and organized, and trying to think about all of the little things to keep us sane through the year. wish me luck.
pj coffee dates on the couch:
the week home really proved to me how grown up my kids have become this year. in many ways, maya is three going on thirteen; fierce and independent, with a heart of gold, and still very much mommy’s girl. and brendan is off to the races, proving to the world he’s also a big boy, but occasionally throwing a snuggle into his day. the break really proved it when we realized we could snuggle on the couch for over an hour with our coffee, in our pjs, snuggling everyone, easing into the morning before we had anywhere to be. it was a dream. i’m looking forward to more weekend moments like that this entire year.
